Any person who is considering getting a Pug puppy should know that the best way to get a dog is through a breeder. However, there are good and bad breeders and it is important to take the time to find the best breeder possible. There are some breeders known as mass breeders who basically breed as many dogs as they possibly can in order to make the most money. These breeders should be avoided completely, not only because they do not care about the dogs and are only in it for the money but because of the personality problems that most of the dogs that come from these breeders suffer from.
The process of finding a good breeder does not have to be difficult, but there are a few things that the buyer is going to have to keep in mind. For one it is important to always ask about paperwork, because this will help to make sure that they are legitimate and know what they are doing. Also keep in mind the fact that any reputable breeder is going to be more than willing not only to provide the necessary paperwork but also answers to any questions that a potential buyer may have.
Also on the topic of finding Pug breeders, one of the best things that an owner can do is contact the breed registry. This is going to be important because the national breed club will send out a list of breeders, which is not an endorsement and which is not only listing the reputable breeders but rather all that are still available. Therefore there is still going to be much work involved, and first the person should talk to other people who already own the breed of dog that they are interested in.
Using the newspaper is not the greatest idea, just because it is not the best source for this sort of thing. However keep in mind that this certainly does not mean that there will never be a decent breeder advertising in the newspaper, it just means that they rarely do.
This includes going out to where dogs gather, including dog parks, grooming shops, training centers and pet supply stores. The Internet is also going to be a great resource here and can help a person become aware of the different breeders available in their area.
Putting the time and effort into finding reputable and responsible Pug breeders is very important and will be more than worth it in the end. Anyone going through the process of finding a legitimate and respected breeder should keep a few additional things in mind, including the fact that any good breeder should be able to provide a list of references of clients that they have worked with in the past. These people are going to be more than happy to share their warming experiences.
A good breeder will often have just as many questions for the potential owner that they have for them. This is because the best breeders are going to be those who that are going to be mainly concerned as to whether or not their dog is going to be heading to the best home and if they are going to get the love and care that they should.
Any good breeder will often ask more questions than the potential buyer. This is because they want to be assured that the dog is going to be heading to a happy home where they are going to be well taken care of. They may ask things such as how large the home is, whether the yard is of adequate size particularly in comparison to the dog and whether there are already any other dogs living in the home.
