The Rottweiler is a breed of dog that is very large, stocky, muscular, and powerful. They are typically quite calm and even-tempered, and are usually very versatile as well. When well trained they can do almost anything, and most Rottweilers are easy to train, especially if you get one when it is still a young puppy.

Training is not the only thing you will have to worry about with a Rottweiler, as proper Rottweiler care is also important. This includes regular brushing, bathing, nail clipping and teeth cleaning. Just as you would with your children, you need to make sure that your Rottweiler gets the care they need to ensure a long and healthy life.

Vaccinations are a very important part of Rottweiler care. If you have your dog as a puppy you will need to have them vaccinated and then follow up with yearly booster vaccinations in order to maintain their immunity to diseases. Worming is also necessary and should be done at least once every few months.

On the topic of Rottweiler care, one of the most important aspects of all is exercise. These dogs need good regular exercise and they do much better outside where they feel more comfortable and at home. They actually love sleeping outside as well, but indoors will be just as fine as long as its exercise requirements are continually and faithfully met.

You should brush their coat frequently but their undercoat only when necessary, and the same goes for bathing. This is largely due to the fact that they are average shedders and so by brushing too often you may be contributing to hair loss and even permanent balding. Also remember that playing with your dog is very important. Rottweilers especially love to be active and interact with their owners, so get them out and about as often as you can.

If you want a dog that is large, stocky, muscular and powerful, who is calm, usually steady tempered and confident, versatile, and who makes a good watchdog, then the Rottweiler is a great choice. Just make sure you keep in mind what it involved in terms of Rottweiler care. Even though it is not much, many people neglect a lot of the important care processes such as proper Rottweiler nutrition, and their dog suffers as a result.

Also remember that although the idea Rottweiler is quiet, even-tempered and obedient, personalities will vary from one dog to another. Especially if you get a Rottweiler who is already grown, you can never really be sure of their behavior patterns until you have had them and lived with them for a while.

Boredom in particular can lead to behavior problems so make sure that you get them out and keep them active. A Rottweiler should be owned be only extremely responsible people, who are willing to offer the care, training and compassion that their dog needs. The owner should also be knowledgeable on the breed and the care that is required.
